Lake Macquarie Childcare Centre
Lake Macquarie Childcare Centre is a purpose‑designed early learning facility located on a large site adjacent to a main Shopping Centre. The project will deliver a specialised childcare environment for up to 60 children aged 2–5 years, with a strong focus on inclusive and autism‑responsive design. The centre is organised around five internal play and learning spaces, each directly connected to a generous outdoor play space that supports sensory‑rich, flexible, and safe learning experiences. The architectural response carefully addresses significant site constraints, including bushfire setback requirements and flood levels, with these conditions thoughtfully expressed and resolved through the building’s form.
CNA Design Studio was engaged as the architectural consultant from concept design. Our scope encompassed early feasibility and site analysis, authority and consultant coordination, and the preparation of all architectural documentation to support approvals and delivery. Throughout the design process, CNA worked to balance regulatory requirements with best‑practice early learning outcomes, ensuring a functional, compliant, and nurturing environment for children, educators, and families.
