Paper Bark Residences
Paper Bark Residences is a recently approved project Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) project that comprises of two individual 2-bedroom Class 3 homes, purpose-designed under the High Physical Support category of the NDIS SDA framework. Designed as long-term, supportive residences, each home includes private bedrooms with ensuites, generous circulation space, and integrated carer provisions, prioritising both independence and care.
Our architectural response centres around creating homes, not facilities. The design carefully balances private and shared spaces, with light-filled communal areas encouraging connection, and personal bedrooms offering quiet, restorative retreat.
The homes go beyond SDA requirements through the integration of assistive technology, accessible joinery, and a strong focus on material warmth and domesticity, deliberately avoiding the clinical feel often associated with specialist housing. Externally, the dwellings adopt a calm residential language that blends seamlessly into the surrounding suburban context.
CNA’s commitment to authenticity, accessibility, and enduring design is embedded throughout. By leveraging our expertise and working closely with our clients, we’re delivering two dwellings that are not only functional and compliant, but also compassionate, sustainable, and truly liveable.
CNA have been engaged from as the Architect from concept design and as the Registered Design Practitioner throughout, allowing a deeply collaborative and considered approach. At CNA, we believe that every SDA project should be a direct reflection of our client’s unique vision. This project is the result of close dialogue, thoughtful planning, and a shared ambition to deliver something far more meaningful than minimum compliance.
